The 10 Best Things to Do in Ulladulla

Famous for its seafood and picturesque harbour, Ulladulla offers a laid-back coastal escape in the Shoalhaven region, full of gourmet delights, natural beauty, interesting galleries and surf shops.

Racecourse Beach + other beaches in the area

Racecourse Beach in Ulladulla is a long surf beach that can be accessed from the car park and lookout on South Pacific Crescent. The car park is also a good spot for whale watching as it is elevated from the beach. At low tide and in small swell you may also choose to explore the rock platform on the northern end of the beach.

Some more beaches to explore are: Rennies, Dolphin Point, Mollymook and Narrawallee.





Pigeon House Mountain

Pigeon House Mountain Didthul walking track is one of the best walks in Morton National Park and on the south coast. The walk is in the park’s southern section. The walk is pretty steep in parts, but terrific views make it worthwhile.

You’ll hike through forest, heathland and age-old sandstone before coming to the best part – negotiating a series of ladders that lead you to the summit and the view.

Take in the captivating sight of cliffs and gorges within the Budawang Wilderness, all carved by the Clyde River. On clear days, you may be able to see as far as Jervis Bay and Bermagui. You might even spot a lyrebird along the final portion of the track, where you can also check out rare Pigeon House Ash eucalypts.

Burrill lake

Burrill Lake is a coastal village located just five kilometres south of Ulladulla. It has long been a popular destination for fisherman with a variety of fish species on offer including flathead, bream and blackfish. The picturesque scenery with natural bushland and forest cover creates the perfect backdrop to seaside adventures.

The upper parts of the lake in particular are well suited to waterskiing with the local water ski club having its own picnic area and launching ramp. Located at Kings Point, this part of the lake is quiet and serene and provides visitors with the chance to enjoy activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle-boarding.

Fossil walk

The Guided Fossil Walk has been operating in the beautiful natural heritage environment of the Ulladulla Harbour with its world class fossils since December 2009. It has proven to be an exciting and enjoyable activity for visitors and local residents from as young as 5yrs to more than 80yrs. The trained Fossil Walk Guides have all received very positive feedback from our many participants who range from complete novices with absolutely no prior knowledge of fossils or geology to experienced geologists, and other scientists.





Warden Head Lighthouse

A great spot for spotting sea life and especially for whale watching in the spring, Warden Head Lighthouse is approaching its 150th year. Originally built on the Ulladulla Breakwater in 1873, the light was shifted to Warden Head in 1879. It is one of only two towers in New South Wales made from wrought iron plates, making it a rarity.

Ulladulla Harbour/coffee shops

Ulladulla harbour is located in the centre of Ulladulla, opposite the Ulladulla Visitor Centre and Civic Centre. The wharf and surrounding area are popular with families and a great spot to take photos. There is lots do it at the harbour whether it is watching the fishermen come in to the co-op with their catch, getting a delicious meal at one of the many cafes nearby, or spreading out on the lawn with a picnic and watching the ocean.
